Normally, things should be straightforward but you should be aware of the following points...

• Maps & Stats always starts by running checks to see if your PC has used it before. For first time users, this means a one-off delay ranging from a few seconds to nine minutes, depending on the speed of your connection. After this time you will be offered the chance to download a 'plug-in'. This takes just a few further seconds.

• This plug-in is essential - it is the special software which allows Internet Explorer to handle the map graphics. With it in place, a map will appear in the middle of your screen and you are ready to begin.

• You will never need to repeat this process on the same computer, but the plug-in will be required on any computer you use for Maps & Stats.

• The downloading of plug-in software is blocked on some systems - eg. in some workplaces or on public access machines. If you are unable to download the plug-in, please check with your system administrator who should be able to help.

• The Maps & Stats plug-in will only work with Internet Explorer 4 and above. It cannot be used with Netscape or other web browsers.
